On-Street Parking:

The City of Winooski’s parking ban for the winter months will go into effect on December 1, 2011 and will remain in effect until March 15, 2012. During this period, parking on city streets is prohibited between the hours of 12:00 AM and 6:00 AM except in the Central Business District where the restrictive hours are from 2:00 AM. until 6:00 AM. Vehicles will be towed at owner’s expense. The parking ban is lifted on both Christmas and New Year’s Eve providing the city does not experience a snow storm requiring snow removal from city streets.

The parking ban is in effect at all other times regardless of weather conditions.

Those residents, who can demonstrate to the Chief of Police (802-655-0221) that no reasonable alternative to parking on the street is available, and an undue hardship would be placed on the individual to find off-street parking, can apply for a special permit. The fee for the permit is $50.00. The individual who receives a permit will be held liable for the removal of a permitted vehicle when it interferes with snow removal.

Overnight parking is available in the municipal parking garage downtown during the parking ban.  Click [HERE] to visit the garage site for fee information.

Streets & Sidewalks:

It is unlawful for any person to deposit snow or ice within the public right-of-way to include all City Streets, sidewalks, driveway aprons or within 8-feet of any fire hydrant.  The City shall be exempt from this ordinance as it applies to snow removal operations from City roads and sidewalks. The City shall not hold individual property owners responsible for remedying snow or ice issues within the public rights of way that are created by the City.
