The City of Winooski’s parking ban for the winter months will go into effect on December 1, 2009 and will remain in effect until March 15, 2010. During this period, parking on city streets is prohibited between the hours of 12:00 AM and 6:00 AM except in the Central Business District where the restrictive hours are from 2:00 AM. until 6:00 AM. Vehicles will be towed at owner’s expense. The parking ban is lifted on both Christmas and New Year’s Eve providing the city does not experience a snow storm requiring snow removal from city streets.

Those residents, who can demonstrate to the Chief of Police that no reasonable alternative to parking on the street is available, and an undue hardship would be placed on the individual to find off-street parking, can apply for a special permit. The fee for the permit is $50.00. The individual who receives a permit will be held liable for the removal of a permitted vehicle when it interferes with snow removal.

Lawn ornaments, basketball hoops, etc. must be removed from the city right-of-way.

Overnight parking is available in the municipal parking garage downtown during the parking ban.  Click [HERE] to visit the garage site for fee information.

Anyone with questions regarding the winter parking ban can call the Manager’s Office at 655-6410 x 10 or the Police Department at 655-0221.
