LIVE IN WINOOSKI AND OWN A DOG?
LICENSE DUE ON OR BEFORE APRIL 1ST

Chapter 193, Section 3581 of Title 20 of the Vermont Statutes states that "A person who is the owner of a dog or wolf-hybrid more than six months old shall annually on or before April 1 cause it to be registered, numbered, described and licensed on a form approved by the commissioner for one year from that day in the office of the clerk of the municipality wherein the dog or wolf-hybrid is kept. The owner of a dog or wolf-hybrid shall cause it to wear a collar, and attach thereto a license tag issued by the municipal clerk."

Prior to April 1 a neutered/spayed dog can be licensed at the City Clerk's Office for $12.00 and a non-neutered/non-spayed dog can be licensed for $16.00.

After April 1st  fees increase to $14.00 and $20.00, respectively.

Winooski's Municipal Code also provides very specific rules for dog care. Owners are responsible for controlling their dogs for the common good and safety of their neighbors. No dog can be left to roam at-large or be a nuisance to other citizens through howling or barking.  Taking good care of our pets is not just the right thing to do, it is the law!
